Qatar Airways Check-in Methods
The airline provides multiple methods of checking in. Passengers can check in at the airport or using the online medium.
Airport Check-in: You can check-in at the airport counter of the airline or make use of the kiosk installed there for the purpose of checking in and get the printed boarding pass.
Online check-in: You can also check in using the website or the mobile app of the airline. Qatar Airways web check-in begins 24 hours before flight departure time in case of flights to/from the US, and 48 hours before the flight departure time in case of flights to/from other destinations. The online check in closes 90 minutes before the flight time.
Please note that not all airports where Qatar Airways flies accept mobile boarding passes. Therefore, it is always a good idea to have printed boarding passes with you.
Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Program
Qatar Airways accords certain exclusive privileges to passengers who fly frequently with it. To this end, it has a loyalty rewards program by the name of Privilege Club. This has 4 membership tiers-Burgundy, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Tiers are determined by Qpoints earned. However, it is the Avios miles that are earned or redeemed.
Avois miles can be earned by flying with Qatar Airways or its partner airlines.
Avios miles can be redeemed by flying on the award flights of Qatar airways and with the partner airlines. These can also be redeemed for upgrading cabin class or booking additional baggage.
Baggage Allowance
Qatar Airways Baggage Policy
Qatar Airways provides free baggage allowance depending on whether flight is being operated to/from Americas and Africa or from other destinations.
1. Carry-on Baggage: Qatar airways allows 1 piece of carry-on baggage of upto 7 kg weight for Economy Class passengers. First class and Business class passengers are allowed to bring 2 carry-on bags not exceeding a total of 15 kg weight.
2. Check-in Baggage: For markets where a piece based system applies, 2 bags of 23 kg each is free allowance for economy class travelers, 2 bags of 32 kg each is freel allowance of Business and First Class passengers.
However, wherever the weight based baggage system applies, the free allowance for economy class passengers is 25kg, 30 kg and 35 kg respectively for Economy Classic, Economy Convenience and Economy Comfort, 40 kg for all fare classes of Business and 50 kg for First Class travelers.
