Generally, the airline follows the following baggage policy:
Hand Baggage- Carry on baggage is not free on Spirit airlines. Only 1 carry-on baggage is allowed per passenger and that too is chargeable. The size of the carry-on luggage shall not be more than 22 inches by 18 inches by 10 inches (56 cm x 46 cm x 25 cm). In addition, one personal item (purse, laptop, duty free item, etc) is allowed free of charge but the size restrictions apply. The size of the personal item shall not exceed 18 inches by 14 inches by 8 inches (45 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm).
Items such as camera, infant bag, child car seat, coats, wraps, assistive devices, umbrella are exempt for the carry-on baggage limitations.
Checked Baggage- All check-in bags are chargeable and the passengers are required to pay a fee for every check-in bag. Upto 5 check-in bags are allowed per passenger subject to the size limit of 62 linear inches (L+B+H) and weight limit of 40 pounds per passenger.
Overweight check-in bags, upto 100 pounds per bag, is allowed on payment of additional charges.
Similarly, oversized check-in bags of more than 62 linear inches but less than 80 linear inches are allowed on payment of additional charges.
Airline also allows carriage of special baggage, such as sporting and musical equipment, pets and other articles as per its policy.
